Jeremy Sergeant, the firm’s Marketing Manager (another ex-Barbour Index man), asked us for a ‘different’ graphic approach to the promotion of a new on-line database service. As an alternative to the awful mag-tape reel and punch-card clichés we offered woodcut images of The Tree Of Life and suchlike. Surprise – they were accepted. They were subsequently swallowed by Robert Maxwell’s voracious Pergamon Press. Oh dear.
